En anglais : By and by, the stars gave a little light. It was still pitch black where the woods were thick, but in the open places I could see, dimly, I could see the snowy road ahead a little way, and I could see the dark woods standing all round me.

En français : Petit à petit, les étoiles nous apportaient un peu de lumière. Il faisait nuit noire là où les fourrés étaient épais, mais dans les endroits dégagés, j'y voyais, faiblement, je voyais la route enneigée un peu plus loin, je voyais la végétation sombre qui m'entourrait. .
